How do I import data?
What type of files can be imported?
You can import standard comma separated values (CSV) files into PlaybookIQ.
What is a CSV file?
A CSV (comma separated values)file is a standard form of organizing data. This standard form allows for data to be easily exchanged between applications. Each piece of data is separated by a comma, so when the data is transferred, the importing application can recognize the beginning and end of each piece of data. The first line of the CSV file needs to have defined fields, such as "first name", "last name", "address" that corresponds, in order, to the data in your file. (See sample CSV file). Most applications exporting data automatically include this first line.
Do I need to include quotes in my CSV file?
Quotation marks are not required. However, quotation marks make it possible to use a comma within the data being transferred. For example, if you want to transfer "John, Jr." as a first name, without quotation marks, the data ",Jr." would be read as a separate, independent field, not as included with "John". This would cause all subsequent fields to be off by one value, and the file would fail.
If quotation marks are used, each piece of data must be enclosed in quotation marks.

Often searching for "export" within an application's search field will provide instructions for exporting the data to a CSV file. If you are unable to locate such a help feature, contact us at support@playbookiq.com for assistance.
Field mapping is taking the fields you importing and matching them to fields in PlaybookIQ in a way that makes sense to you as the user. This is done by taking each incoming field and assigning it to an existing field in the new application. In some cases, the old field and PlaybookIQ field will match and sometimes they won't. Choose the field that is the closest match. PlaybookIQ has the most common fields, such as name, address, and email. PlaybookIQ offers 20 custom fields importing fields not found as standard in PlaybookIQ. Set your custom fields on your Admin screen.
There are several common reasons a CSV file won't upload:
Double checking your data for these common mistakes can save a lot of time.
It's important to remember that each row must align with the fields in the header. Looking at the data in an excel spreadsheet provides a good visual of how the fields align:
Note that missing fields in a row are still represented by an empty cell. In a CSV file, a missing field is represented by a set of commas (,,).
I still can't get my CSV file to upload!
